Auditions
We hold two types of auditions: Band Placement Auditions and Chair Placement Auditions. All students are welcome to participate regardless of skill level.

Band Placement Auditions
Band Placement Auditions occur on a year-round basis for students new to CHBA. Based upon your grade level and your years of experience, we will send you a page of audition music. The purpose of your audition is to give us a general idea of your skill level so that we can place you in the appropriate band. New auditioning students will be placed at the end of their instrument section in the band in which they are placed. (Exception: New students who audition for both band and chair placement during our yearly Chair Placement Auditions in August.) Chair Placement Auditions
Chair Placement Auditions occur once yearly in August for the purpose of determining chair placement for all students in our upper level ensembles: Advanced Band, Symphonic Band, and Symphony Winds. We make the audition music and time slot sign-up sheets available every May for the coming year. CHBA’s music directors and master class instructors adjudicate these auditions. Please call the office at 303.778.6693 or come to the top of the stairs outside our office at Grant Avenue Community Center to sign up for your audition time. Note: All students in, or entering, those bands must audition. (Students who do not audition will be automatically placed at the end of their instrument sections.)
